China steps up threat to Vale's very large ore carriers

China's government has cast a shadow over Vale’s multi-billion dollar investment in giant iron ore vessels, by appearing to ban the ships from its ports.

The move, announced by the ministry of transport on its website, deepens a rift between Vale and certain groups within China who want to stop the miner using its Valemax ships to deliver raw materials to China.Permits for dry bulk...
